What is an eBook watermark?

Many eBook stores quietly stamp a small piece of text into every chapter of the books you buy — often your name, email address, or an order number. This is sometimes called a "social watermark": it doesn't stop you from opening or reading the file, but it's meant to discourage sharing by tying the copy to you personally. EbookStrip finds and removes that stamped text, leaving the rest of your book untouched.

Good to know: EbookStrip removes visible text watermarks from plain .epub files you already own. It does not break or bypass encrypted copy protection (DRM) such as Adobe ADEPT or Kindle protection. If your file is DRM-protected, you'll need to remove that protection first using the app or account it came from before EbookStrip can clean it. Please only use this tool on eBooks you've legally purchased, and respect authors' and publishers' copyright.

Is it legal to remove a watermark from my eBook?

Removing a personal watermark from an eBook you legally purchased for your own personal use is generally fine — similar to peeling a sticker off a book you own. Please don't use EbookStrip to redistribute copyrighted work.

Does EbookStrip upload or store my files?

No. Everything happens locally in your web browser. Your eBook is never uploaded anywhere, and we have no way of seeing or storing it.

Does this remove copy-protection (DRM) like Adobe or Kindle protection?
